PPCC Board Meeting Recap - 10/9/25
Here's a brief recap of our October 9th meeting:

Presentations:
The meeting featured two presentations:
  • Supervisor Lindsey Horvath presented information and responded to questions and concerns about the Coastal Commission's decision to approve a Coastal permit for the Gladstone's redevelopment project; about whether or not SB 79 will be implicated by the bus turnaround and bus stops/stations in the parking lot; and about the proposed County Authority for Los Angeles County fire areas. While we continue to have serious concerns about the process and potential impacts, PPCC thanks the Supervisor for speaking with us and answering questions. [Please note that PPCC may host County officials and the concessionaire at a special meeting in the coming days to discuss the Gladstones project and obtain answers to more questions. Stay tuned.]
  • Reps Darragh Danton and May Sung from Team Palisades shared interesting information about the work of this all-volunteer organization, formed to assist with the Palisades' recovery, and the many resources available on its website.
  • Links to the recordings of both presentations can be accessed on PacPaliCC.
PPCC Grant Approvals:
The Board unanimously approved a grant to the Palisades Village Green Committee, for a Hydration Station to be installed at the Village Green, from donations received by PPCC. See the Grants Committee report
HERE for information about the grant.

Committee Anouncements:
  • Rebuild Committee: Committee chair David Schwarz gave an extensive report on the methodology and goals of the PPCC-NORC community survey. He explained the importance of the survey, as well as the process and steps taken by NORC to ensure eligibility and improve communication, and he encouraged residents to complete the survey soon; click on Contact Link if you haven't received it yet. See more information at Survey FAQ. A recording of Schwarz's remarks is linked on PacPaliCC (it can be found on the same recording with the Horvath presentation, at the end of her presentation). Questions for the Committee?  Email:  ppccrebuild@outlook.com.
  • Awards Selection Committee: Committee chair Daphne Gronich reminded everyone that nominations for the 2025 Citizen of the Year and Golden Sparkplug Awardees are due by 5pm on October 17, 2025 (next Friday). See below for information about the Awards nomination process.
  • Undergrounding Committee: Committee chair Reza Akef briefly reported that the Committee has been conducting research and speaking with officials on the status of undergrounding public utilities in the Palisades. Going forward, the Committee will share with the Board all relevant informationthat it receives.
Additional Announcements:
  • The President thanked and welcomed the new organizational members, who can be seen HERE.
  • A successful orientation session was held with the new PPCC Board members on September 29th via Zoom.
  • As always, we heard several reports from Board members and government representatives.
