Dear Angeleno,

Due to citywide operational needs and demands, the LAPD has recommended a shift in the security plan in the Pacific Palisades to deploy officers to other parts of the city. On Saturday, the LAPD and contracted security guards began engaging in high visibility patrols throughout the Pacific Palisades instead of operating fixed traffic control points.

LAPD officers and contracted security are on patrol 24 hours a day throughout the community. Automated license plate readers and other technology continue to be used for heightened surveillance. Let me be clear: your safety and security are paramount. While we could not predict the federal escalation over the past week or the violence and vandalism that occurred, the security plan outlined above will keep the Pacific Palisades protected.

My office, Councilwoman Traci Park’s office, and law enforcement will continue to stay in close contact with you to make any adjustments to this plan as needed. Please join us tomorrow, Monday, June 16, at 4:30pm for a community meeting with LAPD leadership to provide an update on public safety and access to the Pacific Palisades.

The LAPD has taken the time to study trends on the ground and has crafted the current strategy to meet the security needs. Should there be any reason to increase the deployment of officers, LAPD will do so. There will be zero tolerance for anyone who tries to take advantage of the Pacific Palisades.

While the LAPD does not anticipate any increased crime in the Pacific Palisades, please keep in mind that it is important to report all crimes to the LAPD. In case of a life-threatening emergency, you should call or text 911. For non-emergencies call 877-ASK-LAPD (1-877-275-5273). Additionally, you can go in person to the LAPD West Los Angeles Community Police Station located at 1663 Butler Avenue or call them at (310) 444-0701.

You can also report certain crimes online by utilizing the LAPD Community Online Reporting System by going to www.lapdonline.org. Community members can also send an email to P alisades@lapd.online to submit tips and other non-emergency information to the officers working in the Pacific Palisades.
