Pass Distribution/Security Survey/PCH

From CD 11 / CW Traci Park

Pass Distribution:
The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in West LA has closed and Pass Distribution at the DRC has ended as of June 1, 2025.

Starting Monday, June 2, 2025, Pass Distribution will move to the following location:

West LA Municipal Building
1645 Corinth Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90025
Hours: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Security Survey:
Please take a moment to fill out our Pacific Palisades Recovery Survey.  Your feedback will help us understand your priorities, timelines and challenges as we transition from recovery to long-term rebuilding efforts.

PCH Reopening:
Please remember: PCH still an active construction zone. Here’s what to know:

  • Speed limit is reduced to 25 MPH.
  • Flashing red lights at Big Rock Drive and La Costa Beach Club – treat them as stop signs.
  • Southbound lanes are reduced to one lane from 9 AM to 3 PM between Carbon Beach Terrace and Entrada Drive.

Expect lane shifts and slowed traffic. Your patience helps keep workers safe.

Zone 0 Landscaping Regulations

MySafeLA is submitting a letter to the advisory committee of the state Board of Forestry -- as have PPCC and the Palisades Forestry Committee -- reflecting concerns about the proposed new draconian Zone 0 rules and urging the advisory committee to take into account scientific data going forward in the process (currently, we're told that the committee will continue to recommend very strict rules near the perimeter of homes (pots only with plants no higher than 18" within 5 ft. of the structure) and may still be considering limiting vegetation to no more than 2 ft. in height within 10 ft. of homes).

See the MySafeLA letter HERE.  Residents are encouraged to sign on to the letter (scroll to the end to sign on)!

Project Chimney

PPCC's last meeting on May 22, the Board passed a motion approving a project from the House Museum to preserve chimneys of historic Palisades homes destroyed in the fire, to eventually be part of an historic memorial.  The House Museum has issued an updated Press Release, reflecting the names of the important organizations that now support Project Chimney and providing details about the project's status.  We wish for the success of this wonderful project!

PPCC's first meeting in June will take place on June 12, 2025, at 6pm via Zoom.  We expect to hear from invited guest speakers with information of interest to the community (to be confirmed).  There will be updates from the Rebuild Committee (on the status of the NORC survey) and the Land Use Committee (with proposed motions regarding housing density legislation and possibly on the city's "110% rebuild" methodology).

We'll also take up a motion recommended by the Westside Regional Alliance of Councils, calling for Caltrans to postpone a large project to repave the 405 through the Sepulveda Pass until PCH is fully reopened and the Palisades debris removal is completed.

Stay tuned for more information -- all are welcome at PPCC board meetings!
