ACE Building Materials (a family-owned business based in Van Nuys, not the same as ACE Hardware) is applying under a relatively new Municipal Code section for a "long term temporary use permit," to use the now-vacant former Shell Station lot in the Village for a temporary building materials supply yard and point-of-sale center (for storage and distribution during the rebuild of lumber, concrete, rebar and like heavy building materials). For informational slides about the project provided to PPCC by ACE, see ACE Information. For more background about the proposal and permit process, see this Memo to the Board.
See also PPCC EC Letter #1 and Letter #2 f or positions about the proposed project taken on behalf of PPCC by the Executive Committee (conditional support for the permit in Letter #1, and in Letter #2, concerns about potential impacts of LADWP's closure until early May of Via de la Paz at the Sunset Blvd. intersection). Finally, please see the Hearing Notice for information about the upcoming public hearing, this coming Monday, January 5, and how to listen in and/or comment.
