Security Update! Yesterday, Mayor Bass and LAPD Chief McDonnell announced changes to the security deployment for Pacific Palisades. I know these changes are upsetting for some of you, and I take those concerns very seriously. Please know there will continue to be a very heavy presence of police and security in and around the area, and LAPD is fully committed to working closely with the community to make additional changes as needed.

Debris Removal Update - We hit a major milestone this week with the Army Corps hitting the 75% complete mark for residential debris removal. We are incredibly grateful for their continued efforts and professionalism.

DWP Palisades Townhall -  As we shift from debris removal into the rebuilding process, upgrading infrastructure remains a top priority. From undergrounding the power to upgrading water systems, DWP has big projects in the pipeline. We will be scheduling a Palisades town hall with DWP to go over all of that information, so please stay tuned for future announcements on scheduling!

Voter Registration and Eligibility – You can keep your Palisades voter registration active. If you've been displaced by the Palisades Fire and are temporarily living elsewhere, you can keep your voter registration tied to your original home address and you can still vote in your local elections as a Palisadean. To retain your voice in your community's future, all you need to do is add a temporary mailing address to your voter registration to receive important election materials – your districts and voting eligibility stay the same. To update your voter information, visit: LAVOTE.GOV/Recovery

New Mortgage Relief for Fire Survivors – Starting June 12, eligible homeowners can apply for up to $20,000 in mortgage assistance through the new CalAssist Mortgage Fund. This $100 million state program offers grants (not loans) to help cover mortgage payments while homes remain uninhabitable. Funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is on pace to complete debris removal by the end of the summer. Currently they have completed 3,047 properties in the Palisades. This represents about 75% of the total properties that have opted into the program in the city of Los Angeles.

PCH Safety Reminders – Please remember: PCH is an active construction zone.

• Speed limit is reduced to 25 MPH
• Flashing red lights – treat them as stop signs
• Southbound lanes are reduced to one lane from 9 AM to 3 PM
• Expect lane shifts and slowed traffic. Your patience helps keep workers safe.

Electrification – While there is no all-electric mandate for rebuilding in the Palisades due to federal court rulings, we want to make sure you have the info you need if you choose to go all-electric. Resilient Palisades, in partnership with the Neighborhood Council Sustainability Alliance, has put together a series of resources (Resilient Palisades Info and NCSA info) to help households rebuild with resiliency and sustainability in mind.

Free Blood Lead Testing for Fire-Impacted Communities – In response to the Palisades and Eaton fires, the Department of Public Health (DPH) is offering free blood lead testing to residents in affected areas. Wildfires can release lead and other harmful substances from older buildings, ash, and debris. Testing events are posted weekly. Please visit DPH’s event page for the latest dates.
