SB 79 - Dangerous Housing Density Bill

See CW Park's comments in opposition to the bill on Facebook  -- HERE.

Bill status:  The LA City Council now opposes the bill, unless amended to exclude cities (such as Los Angeles) which already have a state-approved and compliant Housing Element. The bill has now passed in the Assembly Appropriations Committee with certain amendments (although apparently not as requested by the City), and will be voted on in the coming days by the Assembly.  PPCC will monitor and continue to oppose the bill, and to request, at a minimum, a full exemption for the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone.

Proposed Zone 0 "Defensible Space" Regulations

Visit this new website, developed by Brentwood Homeowners Association (BHA), for a clear explanation of the new draconian regulations being proposed by the State Board of Forestry, which PPCC and the Palisades Forestry Committee oppose.  Per BHA:  "The site breaks down the science, the risks, and the real impacts these rules could have on our homes, environment, and community."

In Memorium
Eric Dugdale

PPCC mourns the loss of Eric Dugdale, longtime PPCC Board Member and past President of the Palisades Historical Society, who passed away a few days ago.  We extend our sympathies to his extended family, all of whom have contributed to the rich fabric of Palisades community life, including Eric's sister Annette Alexakis, President of the Palisades Art Association, and his nephew James Alexakis, President of Temescal Canyon Association and also a respected PPCC Board Member.

We remember Eric fondly for his ongoing passion for Palisades history, expressed for many years at PPCC meetings at the library, when he often passed out postcards and flyers with unique vintage images of Pacific Palisades.  We hope that some of those wonderful postcards were somehow saved and survived!

Enjoy the Labor Day Weekend!
