Tomorrow -- Sunday October 5
The Longest Table
12-2pm on Pampas Ricas
in the Huntington Palisades
From CW Traci Park:
"You’re Invited – Palisadians are invited to gather for “The Longest Table,” a free community event on Sunday, October 5, from 12–2:00 PM, along Pampas Ricas Boulevard in The Huntington. Picture a table long enough to seat 500 neighbors sharing food, stories, and connection. Tables and chairs will be provided — just bring enough food, non-alcoholic drinks, and utensils for your party. Seating is first come, first served, and Pampas Ricas will be closed to traffic between Sunset/Chautauqua and Ocampo. Hosted by Team Palisades and local partners, this event is all about celebrating our community and building new connections as we continue the road to recovery together. RSVP HERE."

NEW Coastal Commission Hearing
on the Gladstones Redevelopment Project
next Wednesday, October 8
9am at the Sonesta Redondo Beach Hotel
300 N. Harbor Dr.
From the plans: a rendering of the proposed restaurant design
This coming Wednesday October 8, at its October meeting in Redondo Beach, the Commission is scheduled to hear a Coastal permit application brought by County Beaches & Harbors, by the project concessionaire and by the state (CalParks), for approval of proposed plans for the Gladstones redevelopment project. See the agenda HERE (item 12c) for links to the staff report and exhibits; residents are encouraged to attend and comment in person; live stream and Zoom options are also available (see Public Participation Procedures, linked in the agenda).
Nearby Castellammare residents are expressing concerns about the scope and potential negative impacts of the project and are requesting a postponement.
PPCC has long supported a Big Blue Bus and Metro bus turnaround in the parking lot (which was required for the concession bid and is included in the plans, along with bus stops and other features). However, we are concerned that the current plans were not previously shared with the community, despite prior assurance from the concessionaire that information would be provided about the plans and that the community's questions would be answered. The PPCC Executive Committee will therefore soon submit a request for postponement of the hearing, to allow for questions and concerns to be addressed and the community's input to be shared with the Commission, before any Coastal hearing or permit issuance occurs. Our letter will be posted in due course.
